Introducing ... Brenda Covert, Picture Book Author!

I hope you will bear with me as I introduce myself in the 3rd person. Here goes ...

Brenda B. Covert is an experienced author and editor who acquired more than two decades of expertise in children’s educational content. She has contributed hundreds of short stories to educational resources and Sunday school materials.

In addition to her writing, Brenda operates Covert Action Editing, offering editing services, so it’s no surprise that she’s a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association. She has edited everything from short children’s stories, picture books, middle grade readers, YA novels, as well as fiction and non-fiction for adults, including Bible studies, devotionals, Bible studies, memoirs, and cookbooks.

For nearly ten years, she has served on the leadership team of Write2Ignite, an organization that provides resources for both experienced and aspiring Christian authors who write for the children’s & young adult markets. This year an exciting new adventure came from Write2Ignite to co-host The Write2Ignite Podcast! Episode 1 made its debut in June 2025. Learning from each guest is just one of the rewards of working on the podcast.

With all of her creative endeavors, Brenda can now add picture book author to the list. Brenda’s debut picture book, Meanwhile Back at the Manger, is being published by Ambassador International, a small Christian publishing house, and is set for release on November 18, just in time for Christmas, her favorite holiday! Despite delays due to illustration setbacks and personal challenges, she embraced the waiting period as an opportunity to refine her manuscript and expand her online presence.

While having worked sporadically on two blogs over the years, Brenda finally...ahem...caved to pressure and created a website for herself. Feel free to check it out at https://BrendaCovert.com

Though Midwest country born and raised, Brenda resides in the South with her two adult children and three cats, and she especially enjoys weekend visits with her grandchildren.
