2013 Back-to-School Tax-free Weekend

Back-to-School Tax-free Weekend!
It snuck up on me (only because I had emergency surgery in July and have been focused on my recovery), but the back-to-school tax-free weekend is almost here for South Carolina and a number of other states. It’s August 2-4 for most states that are participating.

There’s not a lot of money to be saved (6% sales tax in SC) unless you are in the market for a computer or other big ticket item, but it’s often a time when stores offer discounted prices as well to draw the customers in. So if bargains are your thing, start scanning the weekend sales flyers for the things you need!

The following states are participating this weekend: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. (P.S. Some states have a limit on the amount of sales that will be tax free. South Carolina is not one of those states. See link below for possible dollar limits.)

Here is the link of all sales tax holidays offered in the USA; some are related to events other than back-to-school and occur at other times throughout the year: Sales Tax Holidays

Happy bargain-hunting!
